Vintage PRESTO American Made "Letter Opener" Pattern Switchblade with Onyx Celluloid Handles!

 Vintage PRESTO Letter Opener switchblade, made from 1929 to 1956, this one features what is referred to as Onyx Celluloid Handles. 

Tang is marked "PRESTO PAT PEND" =Early Stamping). Back side of tang is unmarked. Blade measures 2".  Overall is 8 1/4" overall (with blade closed/ 10 1/4" with blade open) Letter Opener measures 4 7/8", and is flat on one side, (like a chisel) and dagger like, (without a sharpened edge), on the other side, and is the perfect design for opening a letter. Knife handle measures 3 3/8".

Safety works fine. Blade seats deep in the handle.. Action is fast. (Blade has up/down blade movement in the open position. Blade is full and mirror polished with scratches. Handles are referred to as Onyx Celluloid Handles, and are a like yellow/clear perlex, and show little to no shrinkage. One pin crack and small chip at the middle pin on the backside. Brass Liners. Carbon Steel Blade is razor sharp. Overall very good condition.

These don't come around too often, and this is priced right for the condition . Often the original owner would break off the the letter opener part . (This is an outstanding piece to be proud of and would make an excellent addition to your vintage American collection).
