Rare French Made Le Superoto Front Opener w/ Stabilizer Switch
[LE-ROTO2]

Rare Vintage (60-70's era) Front Opener from France "Le Superoto"

Unique among front openers the "Le Superoto" features a unique "stabilizer switch" which when the blade is open, allows the user to lock the blade down by pushing the lever forward, so there is absolutely no blade movement at all; after the stabilizer switch is deployed it has the tightest lockup of any front opener ever made. Another unique/unusual aspect of this model is this one has a metal stabilizer switch (normally plastic), so this makes it a bot more unqiue/rare.

It is a very lightweight piece constructed of composition handles (plastic) with aluminum trim on the sides, and has a rattle when closed, however don't let the lightweight construction fool you, this is a well thought out, complex front opener.

The bottom bolsters are a chromed plastic and the 3 3/4" mirror polished blade, (which is very sharp and features 440 stainless), is mirror polished with a slight "swedge" on the top edge. Blade is etched in script: "Le Superoto" on the blade. (Etching is very light; it is readable, but it is located where the mechanism rubs the blade when you open & close it; over time a line will form on the blade from the mechanism, right through the etching).

Early production piece from the 60's-70's no longer manufactured. Measures 4 3/4" closed. Positive fast action. It is the only model that features the unique "stabilizer switch". Extremely clever mechanism never repeated in any other front opening knife; (that we know of).

Rare piece in very good+ condition. Hard to find. A must for your front opening collection! Includes a custom zippered storage pouch.
