Vintage Late 40's Schrade Walden Large Paratrooper Switchblade
[WALDEN-154]

Vintage (Late 40's era) Schrade Walden USA  Large Single 4 7/8" Pattern "Paratrooper" Style Switchblade

Vintage piece from the late 1940's (1947), based on the tang markings (on the backside). This piece features Imitarion Stagged Jigged Bone Handles with steel liners and a polished steel top bolsters. Handles are in excellent condition with no rivet cracks and little shrinkage. Spring Action is superb with minimal up and down blade movement.  Safety works fine. Blade seats deep in the handle below the liners..

Measures 4 7/8" closed. Overall open is 8 3/4". 3 3/4" Clip Point Blade shows some light pitting and staining. Blade has a slight patina and appears to be full. Overall very good condition. Front side of the Tang is marked "SCHRADE WALDEN NY". (Backside of the tang is normally blank, except this model has the Schrade Cut Co patent dates (U.S. PATS. DEC. 21, 09. SEPT. 13, 10. JUNE 6, 16.) on the backside.

Schrade is now out of business and this model is highly sought after. This is one has the early SCHRADE WALDEN NY tang stamp and it is very unusual to have the patent dates on the backside.

This model is sometimes referred to as a Paratrooper Model and holds interest for both knife and military collectors, even though this model was not actually issued during WWII, as the Schrade Walden tang mark was not used until 1946 and WW II ended in 1945.  Includes a custom zippered storage pouch.
