Sam Stoner Amish Handmade DAMASCUS & Ash Wood Skinner
[SSAM-ASHD]

Sam Stoner (Outback Forge) Scottsville, KY Handmade Damascus Skinner with Ashwood and Basketweave Leather Sheath.

Sam is a rarity among custom knifemakers in that he is Amish (actually an Old Order Mennonite) and does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large horses walking on a treadmill. Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

This "Skinner" features a 4 1/2" Hand Forged Damascus Blade made of 15N20 and 1080 Carbon Steel with Stabilized Ashwood Handles; makes for a superb hunter / skinner that is shaving sharp.

Overall length is 8 7/8". The handmade "basketweave" leather sheath is a deep fitting; designed so you won't lose it in the field. Full tang construction. Blade is marked with the maker's initials SS. The perfect piece for those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged), and are looking for a no nonsense, handmade, razor sharp skinner. Sam is a member of the ABS; (American Bladesmith Society). AIK has the largest selection of Sam Stoner's knives.
