Sam Stoner  (Amish Made) Scottsville, KY Bowie / Fighter with Woolly Rhino Bone (Siberia) Handles and Damascus

A rarity among custom knifemakers in that he is Amish; and does not use any electricity or motors in his shop. All of his equipment is connected to pulleys and belts on a overhead drive shaft which is powered by two large draft horses walking on a treadmill.

 Instead of forging his blades in a gas furnace he uses a hand crank coal fired forge. (which provides for a more even and adjustable air flow).

Most of us are inconvenienced by a couple of hours of no electricity whereas it is hard to imagine running a complete knife shop without electric! or phone! WOW!

This "Bowie/Fighter" handles superbly and features a 8 1/2" Blade made of extra sharp Damascus    Steel with dual blood grooves. The outer surface is made of old Bridge Iron with the core of the blade made of circle saw blade steel. Differential heat treat adds an extra layer of toughness.

 Coffin Shaped handle is made of Woolly Rhino Bone (Siberia), with pure copper pins, and weighs 12 oz (without the sheath), and weighs 17.8 oz with the sheath. Makes for a superb bowie fighter that feels good in your hand. Overall length is 13 1/8". The double finger guard is made of file worked  6AL4V aircraft titanium with a lightning strike finish.

The heavy duty leather sheath is made to last, and is also Amish Made by Sam's wife and daughters.. Blade tang is marked with the maker's initials SS. The perfect piece for reenactors, renaissance or rendezvous meets, or those who want a blade made the traditional true way (coal forged). Superb quality piece. Highly Recommended.
