Vintage (1950/60's Auto) French Made "Original Baron" Button Slide Auto with Jigged Bone Handles

Extremely Rare, Vintage Auto from France with beautiful Jigged Bone Handles. Features a mirror polished stainless 3 1/2" bayonet styled blade that is marked "MA" on the blade with a "Wheat or Corn Stalk" with a Diamond on the  tang. Opening rocker assembly is marked  "SYSTEME D'OUVERTURE" "BREVETE" (Translated means Patented Opening System). A safety is part of the rocker assembly and slides downward to lock the blade. Button/Rocker assembly is made of nickel silver.

Handles fit your hand comfortably and features a nickel silver bail at the base. Retangular shaped button located at the base of the rocker assembly activates the leaf spring; sliding down on this button activates the safety. A most unusual auto, it measures 4 3/4" closed. Measures 8 1/4" overall open with brass liners.

This model was recently copied by CAMPOLIN in Maniago, Italy, (called the "BARON"). Campolin's version does not feature a safety; (the button does not slide down on the copy). This "original" version from France makes for a superb addition to your international collection. We can only recall only a few examples of this piece in the 35 years we have offered auto knives, so this is a very rare piece..

Good-Very Good overall condition. Top rivet/pin has a crack in the bone that appears to be stabilized. Has rust/staining on the drop in kick spring, but the switchblade action is strong and fast. Lock up is very good. Mechanically excellent. Includes a custom zippered storage pouch. Highly Recommended!
