[CLIPLK-5305]

1985 First Production Gerber (Blackie Collins Design) "Clip Lock"  Survival Knife Model 5305

One of Gerber's early Oregon,USA Made models (1985 model); originally it was called the "Clip Lock" Survival Knife; later it was known as the "River Master", and the product was moved from US production to Italy to save on costs after Fiskars bought them out. Gerber also made an alternate version called the "River Shorty"..The original design (which is this model), was designed by the infamous, late Blackie Collins.

The Clip Lock features one piece stainless construction. Features a 4" (3 1/4" sharpened edge) Double Edged Blade (Both sides fully sharpened with special serrations). The handle slides into the special black molded sheath by simply pushing down with your thumb on the handle which "clips" into the sheath; (hence the name "clip lock").  The blade steel used was Gerber's proprietary 420HC Stainless. Measures 8" overall.

The black molded plastic sheath features a built in pocket clip that will attach to your clothing or belt, or your belt will slide on the inside of the clip. This model was extremely popular with whitewater enthusiasts, canoeists, divers, backpackers or kayakers. Knife is marked "GERBER" below the blade on the frontside. Backside is marked "PORTLAND, OR 97223 USA"

On the backside of the molded sheath it is marked GERBER LEGENDARY BLADES with the logo (Sword in the Stone). "PORTLAND, OR 97223 U.S.A. PATENT PENDING" . Includes the original box (which is in excellent condition). Knife has never been used, carried or sharpened.
