Early Production (Late 70's era) Gerber Mark I Survival Knife

Features a 4 7/8" double edged blade with non-slip black aluminum handles. Blade steel for this model is a Special Alloy Tool Steel (L6). (From 1976 to 1981, the blade was L6 high carbon steel, just like the Mark II). Overall is 8 7/8". Leather sheath with belt/boot clip.

Serialized on backside of tang. Serial number on this model is 084689. Features the early White box with unusual Blue name Sticker (usually the sticker is green). Paperwork is dated 8/76 and 10/79. Very hard to find these early examples. .Boxes are just as rare.

Near Mint example including the leather sheath.. New/Old Stock. No finer early example out there. Never used, carried or sharpened.  One of the finer examples you will find.. Gerber at one time (during the 60's-mid 80's), was one of the most respected American Made knife companies. When Pete Gerber left the company and they were bought out by Fiskars, they never really regained their status.
